About a third of American adults (31.8%) experience some diagnosed allergic condition like seasonal allergies, eczema or food allergies with seasonal allergies being the most common affecting over a quarter of adults. Many people remain undiagnosed. Allergies are a leading cause of chronic illness with significant numbers in children as well. In fact one in four children report having seasonal allergies, eczema or food allergies. These rates are higher in children whose parents have one parent or both have allergies.
