In this seminar Peter Mandel describes three types of depression:
1. Endogenous depression where the diagnosis is based on diseases of brain metabolism
2. Somatogenous depression where we find severe physical diseases like cancer, state after heart attack or chronic pain. The picture is dominated by “despair about oneself” “why do I need to suffer this fate?”
3. Emotional conflict depression called Psychogenic depression. There’s always a background in the prenatal and childhood years.
To work with these states Peter uses:
